I read an article from Bangkok Post, Bonkers for Burgers, yesterday and surprisingly, they review one of burger restaurants nearby my house where I always wanted to try but never had a chance. Today, the wait was over because this week on Why Not Burgers, I am going to introduce you with Japanese rice burger which I found it odd since it is rarely found in Bangkok. Rice Baga is located at The Crystal, Pradit Manutham Road. The restaurant is actually on the ground floor of the parking building, the same floor as foodcourt. Anyway, I walked straight into the restaurant and was greeted by one of their staffs.

He gave me a menu and I was confused for a second till I realised that I got to choose my own burger topping, rice burger and side. The price of the burger depends on the topping as well as the type of rice burger. Rice Baga has 2 signature burgers: Moo-Ping Sirloin and Hamburg Beef. However, I ordered neither of them but Salmon Teriyaki. For the rice, I chose Tobiko Flavor which I absolutely had no idea how did it taste like. I didn't go for The Original because I thought the taste would be the same as ordinary Japanese rice, the same as the rice for sushi. As my choice was Tobiko, I had to pay 20 baht extra for it which I didn't realise until I paid for my meal. For my side, I chose waffle fries without any hesitation and I had no reason for this.

The first thing that I noticed when my food arrived was the size of the burger. It was not big yet small. It came in a perfect size which suitable for people who ain't feeling too hungry. For the salmon, I personally thought it was small when I first glanced at, but I was wrong. It came with a portion that could make me full for this meal.

I grabbed a knife and a fork and ready to eat my burger. The first thing that I noticed after taking the first bite was the teriyaki sauce since its taste and scent was quite strong. Moreover, the sauce was a little bit sweet but that was fine for me. Even though salmon looked over cooked from the outside but it was perfectly soft and well cooked from the inside. I felt really satisfied with it. Moving on to the rice, it didn't have the same taste as the original Japanese rice if you ask me. Of course I ordered Tobiko but still. Its taste was okay for me, not too good yet not too bad. But I really liked how dense it was and it was a little crispy on its surface. Overall with my burger, I think the taste was fine. It was slightly sweet maybe because of the amount of teriyaki sauce they gave me. However, the waffle fries really helped coping with the sweetness because it was quite salty. They gave me a small portion for waffle fries which I was okay with it because waffle fries itself was big.

In my opinion, I would give my Salmon Teriyaki 3 out of 5. The reason for my score was that I think the taste was okay for me, nothing was special. However, the price was worth my money. The price was 252 baht, including a bottle of water and both service charge and VAT.

So if you go and have it a try, don't forget to comment down below on what do you think of Rice Baga at The Crystal.
